About Born in Toronto, Gabrielle de Montmollin began her career in television and film but moved on to still photography when she discovered it was the medium best suited to her unique vision and independent spirit. Her photographs are composed of imaginative tableaux vivants featuring dolls, masks, toys and other objects in surreal narratives. She has exhibited widely in Canada, the United States, and Europe. Recently her series “Elle était si belle” was part of the exhibition “ Broken Dream of the Free Body “ at Galerie Anamorfose in Izegem, Belgium. In 2010 she reinvented herself as Gabrielle Nouveau - using imagery from her photographs to create mixed media works. |
